Daily Physical Education

We receive daily PE here at Cascade Heights! Our PE curriculum is the SPARK curriculum. You can find a link to the SPARK website under PE websites to your right. This is a researched based Physical Education Curriculum that helps promote the importance of movement to all children. Please take a minute to look at the website. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

There are three components to each day for all the classes here at CHPCS. They are modified and changed for each age group and work different NASPE Standards, depending on their grade. The components are:

  • ASAP (Active as Soon As Possible): This is a quick 5-7 minute game or activity that gets the students moving quickly. The students know how to do each ASAP and start on it once they come into the class!

  • Fitness Component: This is a 7-10 minute activity that works on one of the five fitness components (cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and body composition).

  • Skill/Game Component: This is a 15-20 minute activity that works on a specific skill related to the unit we are studying. The students usually learn how to perform a skill, practice it, then us it in a modified game.

Pictures are taken from each of the components for each class. Please let me know if you have a concern about pictures or any picture I post on the blog.

Keep moving!!!!!
