Week 1 & 2

Physical Education is off to a great start! The students are mastering the PE procedures and classroom rules which will make the year run smoothly!

K - 8th

We started this year off with our Cooperative Games Unit. The students learn how to work together with partners, in small groups, in large groups, and with the entire class. They understand the importance of cooperation when it comes to trying to accomplish a specific goal, as well as learning what teamwork looks like.

We have been spending some time on what it looks like to be positive towards yourself and others in a PE setting. I know by the end of this week they will be ready to begin our second PE unit next week!

Here are some things you can do/ask your child(ren) this weekend:

  • What does cooperative mean?
  • What are some positive things you can say to your peers in PE?
  • Go on a hike and talk about some goals they may have this year in PE!

Keep Moving!

Welcome Back!

"A Healthy Mind and Healthy Body Equals Self-Confidence"

Welcome back to all the CHPCS families and all the new CHPCS families to another great school year! It is time to emphasize the importance of physical activity in your child's education which is vital to his or her health, wellness, and academic success!

Children should receive 60 minutes of physical activity per day!

They should get this in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, Physical Education, sports, dance, exercise, swimming, snowboarding, surfing, biking, hiking, and much more.

This year I will be working on keeping my blog updated weekly with what is being covered in your child's Physical Education class. Keep your eyes pealed for a PE calendar that will include many physical activities being held in the community! Make sure you visit the school website as well as the PE blog as I will constantly be adding new material throughout the school year!

Upcoming Dates:

  • Tuesday, September 2nd - First Day of School for Kindergarten
  • Wednesday, September 3rd - First Day of School for 1st-8th grade (Specials Begin!)
  • Thursday, September 4th - Back to School Night (6:30-7:30pm)

The childhood epidemic will improve only when good health and nutrition are seen as keys to helping children succeed in school rather then something that takes away from learning time
